Types of Qualifications in Australia

Qualifications In Australia

There are several levels of study you can complete in Australia to give you a nationally recognised qualification. The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) was developed to ensure that all education and training qualifications across Australia have a high standard, and are given titles which represent this higher education level. All Australian vocational education and training qualifications are regulated by the AQF. Each AQF level of education represents a certain amount of vocational education and training. This sort of organisation system allows students to clearly recognise their study pathways.

Qualification Types in Australia

Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)

The Australian Qualifications Framework helps to differentiate and make sense of each individual qualification. This way students can understand the level of qualifications and the difference between qualification such as an advanced diploma and a bachelor degree. All qualifications are regulated by the AQF and are given an AQF level to represent the level of education and training it provides. This nationally standardised framework helps employers address the level of training and education they expect their workers to have, and allows students to clearly plan their study pathway. It also allows for the easy transferral of studies. For example you could start studies in one state and complete them in another as they follow the same Australian Qualifications Framework. The AQF can also be divided into three education sectors; schools sector, Vocational Training and Education (VET) sector and the higher education sector.
