2022 Diploma of Mental Health Info Session

TrainSmart Australia opened its gate to the Australian public for a free virtual information session centred around our CHC53315 Diploma of Mental Health. This online info session was run by Marcus Miller, our allied health trainer who explored the role of a Mental Health Support Worker, identified focus areas in mental health where support is needed and the skills you’ll learn in our Diploma course.

The session provided a bounty of valuable information and gave an excellent insight into studying mental health online with TrainSmart Australia.

What Will I Learn?

Learn how to work respectfully with people from diverse social and cultural groups and situations, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

As a mental health professional, it’s important to know how to analyse and promote the holistic well-being of your clients. This means understanding their individual needs and developing customised plans that support their physical, mental and emotional health. Client wellbeing is always the priority, so by investing time in learning these skills, you’re ensuring that you can best serve those who rely on you.

Learn how to develop and conduct an early intervention, health prevention and promotion programs focussing on mental health and wellbeing.

The range of clients you could help in a mental health support worker role varies. During your training, you’ll learn to support people suffering different types of trauma, homelessness, domestic violence, alcohol and drug addiction as well as co-existing mental health issues.

A recovery-oriented approach means understanding that each person is different and should be supported to make their own choices and listened to with dignity and respect. Our courses and trainers teach students how best to assist those in need without judgment or negative connotations.

During your learning, there will be opportunities to develop the skills vital to supporting individuals who have experienced trauma. You’ll learn how to provide individualized care and support to each client, tailoring their recovery according to what they need and how it can best help them reach their goals.
