Megan Bird

Health and Community Services Trainer

Compassion. Empathy. Understanding. Three words Megan lives by when communicating with clients and students

Megan Bird is a Trainer and Assessor across Diploma of Counselling, Mental Health, Community Services and Alcohol and Other Drugs.  She is also a Counsellor in Private Practice in Melbourne, in her own practice for over a decade.  Her background is in Community Psychology so has a broad scope of practice.  She has a special passion for working with kids and trauma clients.

Megan graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), Bachelor of Business (Management) and she completed a Diploma of Counselling some years later.

She has worked in Vocational and Community Psychology for the bulk of her career, taking on the role of Trainer/Assessor six years ago after hosting a placement student from a major Victorian TAFE.  Megan was determined to ensure that new counsellors in the field have a real-world understanding and effective application within the client space.  With the aim of teaching students the real world of counselling rather than students getting a purely textbook understanding.

Megan loves seeing people strive and achieve, reaching their goals and feeling that sense of pride and achievement. She feels the combination of interpersonal counselling and training offers her a perfect balance to encourage and support people to achieve their best, either as a client or a student.  And generally enjoys a good laugh on the way, students seem to really enjoy her approach.
