Skills, Training and Employment Initiative
The Mid-Career Checkpoint Program is an Australian government initiative designed for people who have taken time off to care for their family member’s well-being. The initiative provides a customised Skills, Training and Employment Plan (STEPs), helping participants to identify their career goals, skills and interests and pairing them with a qualification that can lead to employment. In addition, a training incentive of up to $3,000 is available for Mid-Career Checkpoint participants to contribute towards their next course.

How does it work?
Discussing my needs and interests with the MCCP Career Coach helped me narrow down my training and funding options. After completing STEPs, I was recommended to study the Diploma of Counselling with TrainSmart Australia, who supported me all throughout the enrolment process.
