It’s almost that time of year again! Make 2020 a time for new goals and new motivation.
Setting goals as a student or wanting to study can help you manage your time and achieve more.
Set SMART Goals
Using the SMART acronym Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-specific:
Make your goals specific – the more specific, the easier to create a plan and action it.
Make your goals measurable – so you can something concrete to aim for
Keep your goals attainable and realistic – that way you are setting yourself up for success
Make your goals time specific – make sure you have a due date and realistic time frame for your goals to help you manage your time and not get stressed and overwhelmed.
Short + Long Term Goals
It’s good to set both short term and long term goals to keep you motivated and on track. For example, a short term goal may be to complete the next assessment by Friday at 5pm. A long term goal may be I’m going to become a counsellor by 2021.
Stay on Track
It’s easy to start the new year on track and motivated but as time goes by, life can get in the way and we don’t realise our goals.
It’s important to take regular consistent action to achieving your goals – even little actions count to get you in the right direction!
Revisit your goals often to remind and re-motivate you.
It’s a big commitment to take up study and goal setting is a important part of following through with your studies, completing your course and getting qualified!
