Enrolling in a make-up course at TrainSmart Australia opens up an entire world of exciting opportunities, as our CUA51015 Diploma of Screen & Media (Specialist Make-up) students discovered last November. Working alongside the talented Irish Theatre Players (ITP) group, our Screen & Media students gained invaluable experience by providing stage make-up for ITP’s recent production, “Nobody’s Talking To Me”.
Armed with an exciting arsenal of recently learnt skills, the CUA51015 Diploma of Screen & Media (Specialist Make-up) students learnt how to work quickly to prepare actors for stage, even going as far as applying specialist make-up to help actors look 10 years younger or older to suit their unique characters.
TrainSmart has been partnering with the not-for-profit Irish Theatre Players (ITP) group since November 2016, with fantastic results. Not only do our students learn how to apply stage make-up quickly, but they also gain invaluable backstage experience in real-world scenarios. The opportunity to work with ITP has proven to be especially rewarding for some of our students, who have since won paid contracts to provide stage make-up for other theatre productions in Perth.
As well as gaining valuable work experience and guaranteed work placement for our newly trained make-up artists, Irish Theatre Players recognised TrainSmart’s ongoing involvement and commitment to working with local community groups by awarding TrainSmart with a certificate of appreciation for our ‘Contribution to Productions’.
We are grateful to Irish Theatre Players, our talented trainers and our dedicated students for this wonderful working relationship, and look forward to creating more make-up magic together into the future.
